Che Guevara – hero of Latin America

Topics: Cuba, Ecuador, South America
We guess most of you have heard at least something about Che Guevara. He is, of course, already dead, but in South America his soul is still wandering around. Specially in revolutionary Venezuela, and also here, in Ecuador. Actually, there is a big friendship between the presidents of these two countries. The left-oriented Ecuadorian leader Correa is making political-changes similar to the ones made by Chavez in Venezuela. Well, this year elected Correa is not so loud saying that he makes revolution, but his political philosophy is very much oriented to the farmers and villige people, and soon, after changes of constitution, the rich class of this country will suffer.
Well, we better get back to our fellow Che Guevara. Almost 2 weeks ago in Cuenca we had free concert dedicated to 40 years of Che Guevara’s death. We were surprised to see such a mix of people in that event: young and old, white and black. Probably Cuenca residents are starving for the concerts, so they all come to such free events. On the tables one could buy different accessories with Che Guevara’s portret. Right next to the stage an unknown painter was copying a portret of Che from the picture to the huge cartoon. Hungry ones could buy poor pig fried on the stick, but there was no possiblity to buy beer for the thirsty ones… According to the announcement the concert supposed to start at 2pm, but following the tradition of Cuenca events, the first sound of guitar we heard only around 15:20. No surprise, Cuenca people started to gather one more hour later.
Here are some photos from the afternoon with Che Guevara:
Continuing the subject, we would like to share with you a song about commander Che Guevara. There are many covers of this song, as every artist is singing it in his own style. Anyway, the version we add to this story, is more or less classical.
You can download the song here: Victor Jara – Hasta Siempre Comandante Che Guevara
Next time we will share with you another 2 types of music from this continent – reaggeton and vallenato, which we hear almost every day.
Greetings and hear you soon!

Che was one of the greatest heroes of the last 1,000 years.
A prophet about the evils of capitalism.
A saint who died for our materialist $ins.
he is the ultimate hero
Che is a fricken idot! he is a fag!
