Rio Napo

Cabo Pantoja arrived

with lots of luggage
Good bye Pantoja!
stopping along the river to load up items
you see the pig in the boat with tied legs?
it fell in the water and had to be rescued
IMG_9073
damage caused by Cabo Pantoja, hitting the small lanchas (boats)

IMG_9077
if it is about loading animals on board, it is the most terrible scenery during the trip on Rio Napo
animals fall into water, are beaten, are thrown, are mistreated in several ways

hola chicos ;)
Cabo Pantoja inside
the kitchen
sweet dreams
a common meal on the boat: dry rice with even drier plantain (since only meat is prepared with sauce, we were living like chicken on dry food)
interesting cage for chicken
IMG_9102
Cabo Pantoja has, compared to other boats, the biggest kitchen
waiting to sell plantain; for a big bundle of plantain they receive 5 soles (US $2)
IMG_9106
pork prepared for the kitchen crew
Argentinians loved it
on top of Cabo Pantoja, the only place to be during the day when sun is heating up the inside of the boat
sleeping sitting before our arrival in Angoteros
Jeissawell, our second boat on Rio Napo
getting on board of Jeissawell
after being brought by the speed boat
one of the three captains
Jeissawell is much smaller and
instead of 18 foreigners, it had this time just three (us included) loaded
new place, same procedure: locals waiting to sell their goods

better you dream...
than watch the way locals treat animals
sigh

kitchen area in Jeissawell
tinier is not possible
seems they have found their place on board
a surprising discovery: soy milk in cans on board of Jeissawell
an watermelon, what a great day!
mh, tasty, slurp ;)
and a lolly too
here is somebody enjoying his meal
and another one waiting to be fed
without our in Angoteros prepared vegan burger we would not have been content with the food

IMG_9391
these fruits are Camu Camu and due to their high Vitamin C content they are terribly sour
locals seem to enjoy them though
it's so cute!

and here comes the fish
we did not expect that Rio Napo has got Tuna, and especially huge ones
IMG_9416
so called oat drink made of river water (we drank it, but weren't sure it was well boiled)
lunch time
you have to bring your own pot to get some food
the man in red is controlling your ticket and marks your "withdrawal" of food
IMG_9426
Miluska, the last boat for us along Rio Napo
happy birthday Katja ;)
this boat was cracking full
